A first-visit content system for people who are afraid of looking foolish

The hardest step in an independent gym's funnel isn't the payment — it's the door. This is the fixed content set that answers what the first forty-five minutes will actually be like, produced in a format the coaching staff will keep making after the agency leaves.

    The situation

    What we walked into

A prospective member who has never trained in a boxing room does not need more evidence that the training works. They need to know what to wear, where to stand, whether they will be paired with someone who has been doing this for ten years, and whether anybody will be watching. Almost every piece of content the category produces shows people who are already good at it, which answers a question nobody was asking and confirms the fear that was actually stopping them.

Every piece of content the category produces shows people who are already good at it, to an audience whose entire objection is that they are not.

    What we found

    The diagnosis

    1. 01

A social objection cannot be answered with results content

Transformation photos and technique clips address competence. The objection is about being seen being incompetent. No volume of proof that the training works will resolve it, because it is not a doubt about the training.

    2. 02

The content that works is procedural and deliberately boring

What to bring, where to change, what happens in the first ten minutes, who you will be paired with, what the coach will say if you get it wrong. It reads as unglamorous and it is the only content that lowers the actual barrier.

    3. 03

Coaches are the only credible narrators, and a coach's script must be three sentences

A member will not believe a marketing voice on this subject and an owner sounds like a salesperson. A coach on camera is credible. A coach handed a page of script does not record anything, so the script is three sentences and shot on a phone in the room.

    4. 04

A production standard nobody can maintain produces one video and then silence

The system is designed around what the facility can keep doing in week forty, not what looks best in week one. Phone footage in the actual room, shot between sessions, outlasts a professional shoot that never gets repeated.

    The number behind it

    What this is built around

The industry grows — **81M US members in 2025** — but annual retention is only **66.4%**, so a third of members churn yearly (HFA 2026). Spend on the first ninety days before the next lead; the first visit is where retention is won or lost.

    What we built

    The system

A fixed set, not a campaign. One 'your first session' page written as a walkthrough in the order things happen. One sixty-second coach-to-camera clip per recurring question, each scripted to three sentences. A what-to-bring list that fits on a phone screen. A photograph set that deliberately includes beginners rather than only competitors. And a pre-first-visit message sequence triggered at booking, so the person arriving has already been told what the room looks like. New clips are scripted from questions coaches are actually being asked at the door, captured in a shared list, so the library grows from the floor rather than from a content calendar.

    How it was delivered

    1. Week 1

      Question capture

Two weeks of real door questions collected in a shared list before anything is written

    2. Weeks 2–3

      Walkthrough page

First-session page written in the order events happen, what-to-bring list included

      Owner: OmniFlow

    3. Weeks 3–5

      Clip production

Three-sentence scripts, phone-shot in the room, one clip per recurring question

      Owner: Coaches + OmniFlow

    4. Week 5

      Pre-visit sequence

Two messages triggered at booking, plus a coach follow-up after the first session

      Owner: OmniFlow

    Outcome

    What shipped

This entry makes no performance claim. It documents a content set, the format constraints that keep it alive after handover, and the intake mechanism that decides what gets made next. The design test applied throughout was whether the facility could still be producing this in week forty without an agency in the room. That ruled out a professional shoot, a scripted presenter and any format requiring editing, and it is the reason the whole system runs on three-sentence scripts and a phone.

    Reporting

    What you would actually see

These are the surfaces this engagement is run and measured from, shown with representative figures built around the benchmarks cited on this page. Every account we run reports into views like these, and you keep ownership of all of them.

These are demo dashboards. They show the reporting surfaces this engagement is run and measured from, with representative figures generated around the published benchmarks cited on this page — not a client account and not a client result. Live reporting for your own account replaces every number here.

    Honestly

    What we would do differently

The first version scripted the clips centrally and handed them to the coaches, who would not perform them — the language was not theirs and they knew it sounded wrong. Nothing got filmed for three weeks. The scripts had to be rebuilt from questions the coaches were already answering at the door, in the words they already used. We should have started at the door rather than at the desk.
